Birgit Hein

Birgit Hein (* August 6, 1942 in Berlin; † February 23, 2023 in Berlin) was a German filmmaker, film scholar, performance artist and university lecturer. With her structural films (since 1966), performances, documentary film essays and film studies publications, she is considered one of the key pioneers of German underground and experimental film.
